Dec 18, 2007· I also have a Darex E90. Mostly I sharpen the ends. But I do sometimes sharpen a few larger end millls along the flutes. I also have a diamond wheel for carbide (CBN for steel). If you use your shop regularly, it is very worthwhile buying or making a setup to do this. An air spindle is essential if you want to sharpen the flutes.

Most of the time I''m using the end of the cutter (the 1st 20 to 60 thouhs) and when that gets dull, I simply use the bench grinder to hand sharpen the end; grind it back put the reliefs on (without reducing the diameter). For end mills 1/2" in diameter greater, this works well.

I made it exactly to the instructions in the Workshop Practice Series book on tool and cutter sharpening. I have also made the accessories described in the book, including the end mill sharpening fixture which I have used with success to sharpen the end teeth of end mills and slot drills.
